Dr. Chris McConnachie Fellowship

An endowment fund named after Dr. McConnachie was established in 2008 to offer orthopaedic surgery residents at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) the opportunity for a 1-month rotation at the Bedford Orthopaedic Center in South Africa. This program is rooted in the hope that early exposure will encourage future volunteerism throughout residents’ professional lives.

The Dr. Chris McConnachie Fellowship is given to a resident who values the mission and legacy Dr. Chris McConnachie represented. The junior class elects the opportunity to the resident amongst the PG-Y 4 class that best embodies Dr. McConnachie’s legacy to “do what you can to serve the most patients, the best way you are able.”

Please donate to support this fellowship opportunity for future UCSF residents.

In a sense, all health is global health, and what we can learn from and contribute to places like Bedford can and should be an important part of our training.
